This Edmonton Company Builds The Most Gorgeous Tiny Homes Out Of Shipping Containers (PHOTOS)
It's the tiny life for me and plenty of other Canadians looking for alternatives to the single-family home. A company called HONOMOBO makes shipping container homes from Edmonton, Alberta and they're a dream come true. As soon as you see one of these cute container homes, you're going to want to start saving for one.
Narcity heard from Daniel Engelman, the company's co-founder and CEO, about how you can see one of these unique homes for yourself and what it takes to get one.
He said that the best way to see it for yourself is to check out the BC Home and Garden Show in Vancouver's BC Place where they have a model set up inside that you can see until Sunday, February 23.
At the show, you can check out their one-bedroom shipping container home. It's 31 feet long and 419 square feet with floor-to-ceiling glass along the front.
"Our process is simple for anyone that wants a Honomobo," he said. You start it off by reaching out through their website and then the ball gets rolling.
According to the Georgia Straight, about half of their projects are just laneway housing. They can design and then build a home within eight weeks.
After you have decided you want to get one of these homes, you go through a consultation before your custom home is designed and engineered.
It gets built in Edmonton, but then shipped and put together wherever you want — whether that's in the back of your parent's house or on your own private island.
The creativity with container homes like these is virtually limitless.
Still not sure if one of their unique modular homes is for you?
At the BC Home and Garden Show, you can think about it over a drink at their pop-up Honomobo Bar set up inside.
Also in B.C., you can actually stay at one of their incredible creations. There's an Airbnb in Kamloops that they made and it is absolutely stunning.
It's perfect if you want a taste of container life without the commitment.
